October saw the fruits of many months of rehearsing with a sell-out week in the City Hall for the Abbey production of "Guys & Dolls". The leads and chorus were taken through their paces with the singing, some discovering voices they never knew they had. The core of the Jazz Band were enlarged with some extra string players and tackled the challenging score with great acclaim.

Christmas saw the Music Department move to Newry Cathedral. The choir, brass group and recorder consort presented a stimulating reflection on the Christmas story through music, word and action. This they presented to the school and later that same evening to the public, raising money in the process for the hospice.

This March we returned to the Abbey and presented our first Spring Concert in the school hall. It was a celebration of music with almost 100 Abbey boys taking part; Abbey Orchestra, Jazz Band, Choir, Recorder Consort, Barbershop Quartet, Trad. Group, Percussion Samba Ensemble, and much more.

Later in June the Choir & Traditional Group will embark on a tour to England, performing in England's Oldest Catholic School (St Edmund's, - Hertfordshire) as well as venues in Essex. A Mass, two concerts and a ceili in five days!

A busy year both in and outside the Abbey, but what fun!
