Abbey Grammar Science Pupils Are Congratulated

Mr Dermot McGovern (Headmaster) and Dr Sean Fee (Head of Science) congratulate three Abbey Grammar pupils on their recent achievements. In August Ryan Walsh attended the Space Science Gifted & Talented Summer School held at Imperial College London. Throughout the one week course he entered into the Chemistry strand which allowed him to work as a team with other people from all over the world, including China. The course included practical work at University level. Ryan was also successful last year at the European Kickboxing Championships, he achieved both, second and third place. This year he attended the World Kickboxing Championships in Italy were he managed to reach the quarter finals. At both competitions he fought with fighters across the globe.

Also in the photograph are Gerard Grimes and Sean Cunningham were highly Commended in the Royal Society of Chemistry Five-decade Exam Challenge (June) 2008. Gerard and Sean sat a three hour Chemistry examination. The purpose of the competition was to compare the standard of Chemistry at GCSE/”O-Level” over the last five decades
