Three pupils in the Abbey Christian Brothers’ have been ranked by CCEA in the first three places in Northern Ireland in a variety of subjects in this years GCSE examinations.’Top of the Class’ is Patrick Gallogly who got 1st in GCSE History. He is in Lower Sixth studying A Levels. His teacher Mrs Mildred Rooney, Head of Junior History indicated that Patrick was an exceptional pupil.

This is a remarkable feat for this teacher, as this achievement marks a unique hat-rick as she has had pupils ranked 1st in GCSE History in 2004 and 2005 as well. Daniel McCullagh was ranked 3rd in GCSE Modular Mathematics. His teacher Miss Karen Murphy says that this was a remarkable feat given that Daniel is only in 5th year now and shall be completing the rest of his GCSE’s next June. He is studying Additional Mathematics this year. Sean Rooney was Joint 3rd in GCSE German. Another remarkable achievement given that Sean is only in Fourth Year and just started the rest of his GCSEs!
