The Abbey Golf teams have been involved in a number of competitions throughout the year with some
In February a senior and junior team participated in the North – Eastern Schools’ Championship at Baltray Golf Club, a superb links situated just outside Drogheda. Senior members Ross Campbell and Kieran Murphy won best individual score. (Teams: Ross Campbell; Thomas Moan; Kieran Murphy; Niall O’Hare. Junior: Kevin Mc Kernan; Ruairi Gillen; Ros Carvill; David Barron.) In March the same group of players were involved in The British Heart Foundation Championship at Ringdufferin Golf Club. Through their participation the students raised a sum of money for the charity in question. The junior team, years 8 – 10, have qualified for the final of the Newry and Mourne School’s Golf League, where they will play St. Patrick’s Armagh at Warrenpoint Golf Club. The team consists of: Ryan Gribben (Captain); Ian McKeown; Niall Mulvanney; John Kerr; Kevin Markey; Gary McLoughlin and Declan McConville.In reaching the final the Abbey contested matches against Our Lady's, St. Columban's and St. Louis, Kilkeel.
In the end the Abbey were narrowly defeted by the reigning champions, St. Patrick's.
