Pictured opposite are a group of 4th and 5th year students from the Abbey Grammar School, Newry. Also included are Miss Armstrong and Mrs Burns, Year Tutors.
Building on a fine tradition in the Abbey, of reaching out to those in our community who find Christmas somewhat challenging, the students responded to a personal appeal from Mr. Louis O'Donnell, representing the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
A substantial sum of money was raised allowing a group of senior students to personally buy and compile food hampers. The remainder of the money was given to the St. Vincent de Paul to use at their discretion.
