On the afternoon of Friday 11th October all first year students at the Abbey Grammar School, Newry attended a play and workshop on bullying entitled 'Silent Scream'. This was organised as part of the students' Personal Development curriculum to look at bullying.

The parents of first year students were also invited to attend the performance through the Abbey Parent Teacher Association (APTA).

'Silent Scream; is a one - man hard - hitting and provocative play produced by Class Acts Promotions Ireland Ltd. The Production concentrated on two main issues: what to do if you are being bullied, and how to create a climate of non-tolerance towards bullying in the school. It aimed to make students themselves share responsibility towards keeping their community bully - free.

The performance was warmly received in the Abbey and teachers, pupils and parents alike commented positively about the impact of the performance
