A team from the local branch of the Gaelic League visited all five classes in first year for a variety of language based activities including table-quizzes and bingo. Máirt 11ú Márta

Róisín Mhic Thréinfhir, Seán Ó Conghaile, Máire Ní hEannaigh, Treasa Mhic Aodha Bhuí, Celia Creaney, Carmel Mc Nally, Máiréad Uí Chiaráin, Seán Ó Manaigh, agus Máirín Mhic Giolla Phádraig.

In a joint venture with Spirituality week all first form visited St. Patrick’s Centre in Downpatrick on Friday 14ú Márta.

2ú Bliain

All five second year classes attended a performance of the 2003 Abbey Scoildrámaíocht entry “Scrúdú Beil” in Halla na Cathrach Iúr Cinn Trá Dé Céadaoin 12ú Márta.

3ú Bliain

All five third year classes visited Newry Sports Centre where Gael-Linn held an inter-schools table-quiz. Four students in Slemish 3 ( James Lannon, John Treanor, Stephen Hankin, and Daniel McCoy ) came second overall and were presented with runnersup trophies. GCSE / GCE

Mrs Christine Bradley from Comhaltas Uladh visited the school to examine GCSE and GCE students for the Sciath Mhic Giolla Bhríde / Ashbourne Shield Oral Irish award. Máirt 11ú Márta.

61 & 62

Sixth and seventh year students of Irish went on a guided tour of sites associated with the gaelic literary tradition of South Armagh / North Louth in the 18th/19th century. Tour guide was Mr. Aodh Ó Murchú (former Head of Irish, Abbey CBS) Déardaoin 13ú Márta
