Abbey Students Add To Cancer Fund

The Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children has benefited to the tune of £2,732, thanks to the efforts of students from Newry's Abbey Grammar School.

Pupils asked family and friends to sponsor them to read books, magazines etc during the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children's Read-on! Week held at the school.

June Horridge, Business Development Officer, who accepted the cheque on behalf of the Fund, commented,
"By participating in the Read-On the Abbey Grammar School have raised funds that will ensure that the vital services which the charity offers can continue.
"It is heart warming to see young people in Northern Ireland helping their peers through a stressful period of their lives".
