All Star Banquet 2005
Location: Europa Hotel, Belfast
Abbey students Eoin McGuinness and Kevin McKernan joined 27 other recipients of All-star Awards in a gala event hosted by Bank of Ireland to mark the end of the Colleges’ Senior playing season.
Principal speaker was chairman of the football selectors, former GAA President, Sean McCaigue who paid tribute to the tremendous work done by the schools in promoting Gaelic games.
A special presentation was made to Val Kane, who stepped down as Secretary of the Council after 22 years. Val noted that handing over to Séamus Woods meant that the Abbey would not be holding the Secretary’s minute book for the first time since 1951 as he had followed on from Brothers O’Doherty and Nolan.
