Pictured here with Mr Maurice McKevitt are Micheál Brady, Cailam Quinn, Seán McClory and Diarmaid Dillon, the 2004 entrants for the Gael Linn public speaking competition ABAIR. The SELB area heat was hosted in the Abbey CBS library and on that occasion Diarmaid Dillon qualified for the Ulster finals in the A Level section while Seán McClory proceeded to the Ulster finals in the GCSE section.

The venue for the final was The Cardinal Ó Fiaich Memorial Library in Armagh and a total of 40 competitors delivered a 4 minute prepared speech. The judges were Pádraig O Baoill from Rann na Feirst in the Donegal Gaeltacht and Lynette Faye from the BBC Irish Language Unit. The school has achieved success at A Level in this event in 2002 with John Dougan and at GCSE in 2003 with Macdara Ó Graham and yet agin in 2004 when Seán McClory emerged as overall winner for GCSE. The prize was a trophy, a scholarship for a course in the Gealtacht and a full expenses paid trip to Edinburgh for the student and his teacher to participate in a joint Scots Gealic / Irish Gealic convention.
