ABBEY SUCCESS IN EUROPEAN MATHS COMPETITION

On Thursday 11th March twenty four lower sixth Maths students participated in the Mathematique's Sans Frontiers Competition, a mathematics competition which is run right across Europe on this set day. The Abbey students were second runners up in the Southern Education and Library Board Area. This is a commendable achievement given that this is their first year that the school has entered the competition .

The successful students were : Jonathan Brannigan, Edward Carville, Ciaran Connolly, Peadar Coyle, Stephen Devlin, Ronan Digney, James Harte, David Hughes, Darren Magee, John McKenna, Jonathan Sands, Brian Sherry, Mark Kenny, Ciaran Browne, Niall Drain, Fergal Garvey, Peter Gordon, Paul Henning, Marc Kerrin, John Rafferty , Brendan Rooney, Darran Treanor , Paul White, Patrick Woods, Colm O'Grady.

Included in the picture is Mr Gerry Toal , Maths and Numeracy Advisor for the SELB who presented the students with their awards and Mrs Sinead Burns, Head of Mathematics.
