The Computer Club (Jan - June)
After Christmas the computer club started up again on the 5th February 2000. Before Christmas we were working on the Tesco Schoolnet 2000 Project. Now we are designing our own project for the Abbey Grammar web site and working with Microsoft Powerpoint presentations.
We created our own files about ourselves and our projects are now online on the Abbey Website. To help us create these files we used Microsoft Powerpoint. This is designed to give a slide show to display our work. We can view our work in a slideshow which, if the computer is connected to a data projector, can be used to present the presentation to a large room of people. These projects took us a few weeks to complete. After that we have helped out with the Abbey web site even more. We wrote essays on typical Abbey life, the school in general and class lists.
We work in Mr McCann's computer suite (MCS) in the Abbey. Our teacher is Mr Grogan and he shows us how to use the packages and helps us if we get stuck. The people in the computer club are Ian Murphy, Daryl McShane, Paul McArdle, Mark Rodgers, Caolan Hollywood, Stephen Begley, Thomas Best and myself, Sean McClory and our teacher, Mr Grogan.
The Abbey Grammar website has only just been set up and there is still a lot of work to be done before it is finished. The address of the site is www.abbeycbs.fsnet.co.uk. We have to cover all the departments, the teachers, the pupils, extra-curricular activities and lots more. We hope to expand upon it, when we come back to school in September.
