GUEST SPEAKER
Mr Kieran Goss
Education Abbey Grammar School - 1972-80 MacRory Cup Finalist 1980 Queen's University, Belfast - 1980-1985 Qualified as a Solicitor 1985 One of a family of 15.
Kieran Goss in not only one of the top songwriters in Ireland, he is also one of the biggest selling recording artists in the country.
His album, "Worse Than Pride", sold 30,000 units in nine months, going straight to number 7 in the charts in the first week of its release. The album yielded two Top 20 singles and was still in the Irish Top 50, nine months after its release. No mean achievement, considering that it was Kieran's first release on his own lager, Cog Communications.
Kieran has released five albums to date; four solo albums and one solo album with Francis Black. The first single, "Out Of My Head" brought Kieran back into the public eye after a break of two years dedicated to writing and recording. For several consecutive weeks, it was the second most played song on Irish radio -the most played being Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On", from the movie "Titanic". Support by national television and radio advertising, and two sell out national tours, "Worse Than Pride" attained double platinum status. To finish off a great year, Irish Music Magazine voted Kieran "Best Contempory Artist of 1998".
In March 1998, Kieran signed a worldwide publishing deal with Peermusic. Since then, he has co-written with some of the top songwriters in Los Angeles and Nashville (Jud Friedman, Brenda Russel, Rodney Crowell, Gorden Kennedy). Kieran's new album "red-Letter day" was released in Ireland on May 5th 2000 and went straight in to the Irish album charts at number 5.
'Cog Communications, 12 Lower Pembroke Street, Dublin 2, Ireland.'
