TESCO SchoolNet2000

Tesco Schoolnet 2000 - by Sean Mc Clory, Breffni 1

The Tesco Schoolnet 2000 Project is the world's biggest internet project! It was developed by leading experts in on-line education and supported by the government, professional organisations, education advisors etc. The idea is to create a Domesday Book for the 21st century containing thousands of ideas about life in the UK. Schools all over the country are taking part and there are 340 internet centres set up. You don't need to have a computer or access to the internet to visit the Tesco Schoolnet 2000 site as it is on show in the Millennium Dome in London As a pupil, my job is to provide information. I have to carry out surveys and interviews of people around where I live. I provide details of my surroundings, schools, people etc. I have to write up these details in a report and give my ideas to our computer teacher, Mr Grogan. He will then put them on the internet at the Tesco Internet site. From there they are uploaded onto the Interent, for the whole world to access. From which they can learn about life in Ireland and life at the Abbey.
